Mims Bledsoe will soon open a smaller, Virginia-Highland offshoot of her popular Pie Shop concept, currently based in Buckhead at 3210 Roswell Road. The second location will assume the former home of Honey Butter boutique at 1037 N. Highland Ave. Bledsoe launched a buzzed-about Kickstarter campaign in September 2013 to fund her new venture, but ultimately raised less than half of her $35,000 goal, thus losing the proceeds. Nevertheless, her new shop seems to be coming through with flying colors and is slated to open "in a couple months." We'll keep you posted.

Ratio Bakeshop's brick-and-mortar is now open in Decatur at 755 Commerce Drive. The retail concept from seasoned pastry chef Chris Flores (formerly of West Egg Cafe, Bakeshop, and Nikolai's Roof) has been nearly a year in the works, but patrons have already been able to buy treats from his repertoire in the meantime: artisan cakes, cheesecakes, pies, brownies, scones, cookies, and more at spots such as MetroFresh, Savi Urban Market, and Honey Bubble.

Staplehouse executive chef Ryan Smith is making a short-term return to his former stomping grounds, Empire State South, as its interim pastry chef. Smith will assume the role this summer while the restaurant searches for Melanie Durant's replacement, who is departing for a new post at FIG in Charleston. Smith will continue to prep his new menu for Jen Hidinger's long-awaited restaurant and his Octane Grant Park Sunday pop-up shop series through mid-June.

Replacing Aspen Grille & Bartini - which operated for just a year and a half at 322 E. Paces Ferry Road in Buckhead - is the fifth location of 101 Concepts' Meehan's Public House. The upscale Irish pub offers gourmet takes on classic pub fare care of executive chef Val Domingo. Additional locations can be found in Vinings, Sandy Springs, Downtown, and Atlantic Station.

After a little more than a year at the helm, Woodfire Grill executive chef Tyler Williams has parted ways with the 1782 Cheshire Bridge Road restaurant, releasing a heartfelt - if somewhat cryptic - statement to address his reasons for departing. For the time being, current sous chef Matt Weinstein will fill the role while the hunt for a new executive chef is conducted. Having cut his teeth at Bacchanalia and Abattoir, Williams took the reins of Woodfire Grill from Top Chef Kevin Gillespie, who departed in early 2013 to open progressive Glenwood Park eatery Gunshow at 924 Garrett St. Details on Woodfire's next hire as they arise.

The Bishop is now up and running in Avondale Estates. The "contemporary neighborhood restaurant and bar" from Luellen Marshall puts a twist on American comfort cuisine with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, served up in a Tudor-style building at 124 N. Avondale Road. Marshall, for her part, boasts a 20-year history in the hospitality industry, having worked at Ruth's Chris steak house and Village Tavern.

The Decatur location of Mellow Mushroom appears to have closed its doors for good - at the culmination of a well-documented saga on Decaturish.com (H/T to Eater). According to the website's reports, the 265 Ponce De Leon Place location's employees and management were not notified by Mellow Mushroom's corporate office, Home Grown Industries, of the shutter, but instead found out via the location's Facebook page. The latest report on another Facebook page created out of solidarity, Stop Mellow Mushroom Decatur Closing, suggests that owner Dave Kieffer has surrendered the fight to keep his restaurant afloat. Details as they arise.
