Quick Bites: Ponce City Market delays opening, Ford Fry to open another Tex-Mex location, and more

The highly anticipated Ponce City Market, which planned to open this past April, has pushed its debut date to August with stalls continuing to open until early 2016. As of now, the food hall tenants include Bellina, Dancing Goats Coffee Bar, Dub's Fish Camp, Farm to Ladle, Fish Camp, H&F Burger, H&F Bread Co., Honeysuckle Gelato, Jia, Juice Box, Minero, Simply Seoul Kitchen, and Ton Ton. There are also two newly added tenants: Boti, an Indian street food concept from Decatur and Ashville's Chai Pani founder Meherwan Irani, and Spiller Park Coffee from restaurateur and Top Chef judge Hugh Acheson.


Restaurateur Ford Fry has filed plans to open a second Superica plans to open another Tex-Mex location in a former Outback Steakhouse located in Buckhead at 3850 Roswell Road, Suite 100 (says Rocket Farm Restaurants). Fry also has two other new restaurants opening in Atlanta this year: Marcel, a classic, European influenced steakhouse, and a sister restaurant to the Optimist.

Little Bach, a small dining room branching from sister restaurant Bacchanalia, opened its doors this Wednesday. Led by chef Joe Schafer, Little Bach is serving dishes focused on ingredients from chef/owners Anne Quartrano and Clifford Harrison's Summerland Farm, classic caviar service, oysters, and craft cocktails poured table-side.

A new farmers market is coming to the Old Fourth Ward. As of now, Old Fourth Ward farmers market will run from June 6 until November 21 taking place at the historic Southern Diaries building located at 621 North Avenue N.E. Vendors have yet to be released, but CL will keep folks updated when further details are available.

In case you missed it, the team from Cakes and Ale opened Proof Bakeshop this Tuesday located at 100 Hurt Street N.E. Pastry chefs David Garcia and Abigail Quinn are offering freshly baked goods, breakfast from 7-10:30 a.m., and lunch until 6 p.m. Dishes include a ham and Gruyere melt, leek and lardon quiche, roast beef tartine, and fresh salads and soups.

Atlanta's first distillery since Prohibition Old Fourth Distillery will be ready to release its gin this winter. The distillery debuted with its hand-crafted vodka five months ago and is pumping out as many as 350 cases a month. With demand on the rise and its gin hitting stores and restaurants in January, the distillery plans on expanding its facility and increasing production to 500 cases per month.

East Atlanta Village's Urban Cannibals has closed indefinitely. The owners announced that they are focusing on Midtown's Madre and Mason and Virginia Highland's Tipple and Rose Tea Parlor and Apothecary, both set to open this summer, and other "fun projects".

West Midtown's Corner Tavern closed its doors for good this past Sunday and is in the selling process. Owner Melanie Rabb told Eater that employees have moved to Corner Tavern's Edgewood and Little Five Points locations.

The General Muir is expanding its bakery operations in the adjacent 2,000 square feet of space next door. Partnering with head baker at General Muir Rob Alexander, TGM Bakery is planned to open late summer 2015. Partner Shelly Sweet stated, "We expect the space to be predominantly a production space, but our goal is to design the bakery so that it provides engaging visuals for Emory Point visitors and is very flexible." She also hinted at possible mid-day pop-ups.
