Omnivore - Dish Dive is turning Vietnamese

Dish Dive hosts Shane Devereux for weekly pop-up with noodle bowls

There is a new pop-up in town at Dish Dive (2233 College Ave. N.E. Kirkwood. 404-957-7918. www.dishdivekitchen.com). The joint we called “Best Breath of Fresh Air” in our Best of Atlanta 2015 issue continues being inventive, this time with a Vietnamese scope.
?
? Every Monday night from now until “maybe April,” owners and Top Flr alums Jeff Myers and Travis Carroll host “Monday Night with Shane Devereux”. Devereaux (The Lawrence, Sound Table, Barcelona), who served his noodle bowls most recently at Venkman’s in Old Fourth Ward, ladles them on Mondays in the cozy 16-seat restaurant along with other Asian inspired menu items.
?
? Devereux’s menu is approachable and influenced by the ethnic ingredients of his childhood. He commented that his pork and chicken egg roll may be better than his Vietnamese grandmother’s.
?
? This past Monday, the menu included two noodle bowls (one vegetarian), a couple of sandwiches, three side dishes, and a dessert with prices ranging from $5 to $14. Noodle bowl #2 was a rich miso-mushroom broth with generous portions of seasonal shrooms, smokey charred eggplant, and house-cured tomato. A fresh and bright green papaya and cabbage salad balanced the meal with thinly shaved and Julianne veggies, lots of mint, and peanut bits.
?
? Dish Dive Mondays is from 5-10 p.m. The music will probably be cool. Myers will probably be bussing tables and taking orders. BYOB if you want booze. Call or text (404-957-7918) for the evening’s menu.
