Atwoods Pizza, the Cypress Street Pint and Plate team’s latest venture, is slated to open the second week in March. The pizza concept will replace The Biltmore Cafe and Grill in The Biltmore Hotel, according to What Now Atlanta.
Chai Pani and the Atlanta Film Festival will premiere “Cutting Chai,” 45-minute documentary about the acclaimed Indian street food spot, at Ponce City Market on Thurs., March 10 at 7 p.m. After the screening, attendees will get a sneak peak and tasting of Meheran Irani’s Botiwalla menu, which will open in PCM’s Central Food Hall soon.
The Food That Rocks festival will showcase 25 Sandy Springs restaurants on Sat., May 14, at Hammond Park from 7 to 11 p.m. Created by Taste of Atlanta founder Dale DeSena, Food That Rocks will share TOA’s goal of turning tasters into diners and giving diners the chance to meet local chefs. Proceeds from the event will benefit Second Helpings, Ian’s Friends Foundation, and the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance.
Ray's Restaurants has named Jeremy Miller their corporate research and development chef. Formerly of American Food & Beverage, French Laundry, and Manhattan’s legendary Jean Georges, Miller will develop new menu items and research trends for the restaurant group.
Atlanta’s first Thrive Coffee Shop will open at the Crowne Plaza Midtown in April, according to What Now Atlanta. Borne from Roswell-based Thrive Farmers Coffee, which supplies “farmer-direct specialty-grade” coffee, the shop will also have pastries from Highland Bakery.
Henry County’s $300 million mixed-use project will have a food hall featuring eats from "the best local and regional chefs," according to Curbed Atlanta. The 12,000-square-foot Mount Olive Market will be located within Jodeco|Atlanta South, which is slated to open its first phase in April 2017. The site will also include retail, entertainment, and an "amenity-rich urban district.”
