First Slice 9/19/17: Startup tries to get Georgians to run for office

Challenge accepted: A San Francisco-based political startup is trying to get Georgians to run against politicians who don’t have opponents in their respective races through a billboard campaign.

Yesterday, state Rep. Keisha Waites resigned from her seat representing District 60 in the House so she can run for chair of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners.

Three people were arrested last night during the vigil turned protest for Georgia Tech student Scout Schultz, who was shot and killed by police over the weekend. Two officers sustained minor injuries, and someone set a police cruiser on fire.
