Ray Herbert, Jr., moved to Atlanta from Atlantic City, NJ in the 1980s and died in 1997. He earned the nickname Panorama Ray for an unparalleled series of large-format photographs shot with a 1904 Kodak Cirkut camera, bequeathed to him by panoramic photography pioneer Fred Hess. Ray’s subjects ranged from the residents of Cabbagetown and members of the Ku Klux Klan to the Egyptian pyramids and Atlanta’s changing cityscape. He was also an accomplished painter.

Tonight (Fri., Aug. 12), Eyedrum’s rooftop celebration of Ray’s life and work includes musical performances by Marymay Impastato and https://www.facebook.com/W8ing4UFOs/?fref=nf" rel="external">Waiting for UFOs (featuring former members of Smoke), and a posed panoramic photo of attendees at 8 p.m.
