If you asked Atlanta’s fashion enthusiasts, most of them would likely say the city’s sense of style is still being developed. While our culinary and music scenes continue to grow, we’re still working on solidifying ourselves as a fashion capital. Along with the help of organizations like Ragtrade Atlanta and Factory Girls, innovative designers are doing their part by starting and running fashion brands locally. The latest name to be added that roster is Amōure Collection, launching Dec. 27.

The modern menswear brand was created by Rashgmaal Bloodman and Michael Matty, two friends who met while growing up on the U.S. Virgin Islands’ St. Croix in the same neighborhood. Matty moved to Atlanta for college and, soon after, convinced Bloodman to join him, partly so they could continue to explore their creative endeavors. With both having a passion for personal style, they decided to move forward with creating a brand of their own in 2015. Their first foray into design, creating and selling a cap, was inspired by popular Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons.

Their debut streetwear collection features a series of understatedly stylish tees, button-downs, hoodies, hats and more, which can all be purchased on their website (they don’t currently have plans to shop the brand around to local stores). “Our ultimate goal is to bring a certain aesthetic to the city’s creative and fashion scene,” says Matty. “Creating these clothes for this brand under the motif, Amōure, it’s all about doing what we love, for people to love. Hence the name, the tagline, Made With Love.”
