Allah-Las, the Babe Rainbow

Terminal West - 887 W. Marietta St. N.W., Studio C Atlanta, GA 30318 $12-$14. 8 p.m.

Allah-Lasb third album, Calico Review (Mexican Summer), has a rustic quality to it, but the group hasnbt gone country. Songs such as bStrange Heat,b bCould Be Youb and bHigh & Dryb exhibit a lived-in heartland comfort while staying true to the bandbs garage-pop sensibilities. Therebs a nostalgic, though not quite rose-colored ache for the American ideal here as vocalist/guitarist Miles Michaud remains as reflective as ever. Michaudbs voice approaches hypnotic, while the band skirts any otherworldly, psychedelic journeys. Calico Review mostly leans on contentment while gravitating toward sun-baked, everlasting bliss, or whatever will pass for it.

Todd Barry

Relapse Theatre - 380 14th St. Atlanta, GA 30318 $20. 8 p.m.

New York comedy vet Todd Barry speaks softly and with a deadpan tone, but his jokes are far from boring. Barry has brought his wry observational humor to late-night staples such as bThe Late Show with David Lettermanb and bConan,b as well as hit shows like HBObs bFlight of the Conchordsb and FXbs bLouie.b Not one to stay anchored to his act, Barry is a master of crowd work, having completed a national tour of shows comprised solely on engaging his audience, later captured in the Netflix special bThe Crowd Work Tour.b

Mike Simonetti

The Sound Table - 483 Edgewood Ave. S.E. Atlanta, GA 30312 $5 before midnight. $10 after. 9 p.m.

Both of them set the night in motion followed by a headlining set from Troubleman Unlimited Records and Italians Do It Better label co-founder Mike Simonetti. It will be an even punctuated by deeps dives into the outer limits of lo-fi, electronic, post-punk, dance, and house music thatbs tailored to set the body and for the brain in motion.
