Molly Burch plays 529 Oct. 9
The Austin, TX songwriter is on the road singing songs from her latest album, ‘First Flower’
“To The Boys,” the latest single from Molly Burch, brings the Austin-based songwriter’s jazz background into tight focus. Burch’s smoky voice saunters along with Afro-Cuban percussion and breezy guitars, conjuring images of a sweltering nightclub at the turn of the 20th century. Playful yet biting, the song feels lighthearted when compared with much of Burch’s previous output. Please Be Mine, her acclaimed 2017 Captured Tracks debut, dove headlong into themes of unrequited love and heartache via wholly inviting folk songs. Like contemporaries Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten, Burch’s unusual song structures and arresting vocals command attention through subtlety and slyness. First Flower, her latest LP, is out October 5 via Captured Tracks.
