PRIVATE SHOW: Father headlines an evening of music featuring performances by Bali Baby, Upcheck and more.

Father is the face of Atlanta’s weirdo music collective Awful Records. But outside of the city, his influence in hip-hop goes largely unspoken. Since 2014, he has been integral to the breaking of acts such as Playboi Carti, Tommy Genesis, and Danger Incorporated all while establishing a prolific catalogue of his own. With career-spanning staples such as “We Had A Deal,” “Heartthrob,” and “Look At Wrist” under his belt, Father continues to expand his signature sound on his latest album Awful Swim. A fitting collaboration with Adult Swim, it saw a return to form for the Atlanta rapper, housing some of his best material since his infectious 2014 breakthrough album, Young Hot Ebony. Having relocated to Los Angeles, Father returns to Atlanta for a stint at the Drunken Unicorn on Friday, April 4. Bali Baby, the promising rapper behind songs such as “Enemies” and “Banana Clip,” also performs. Upchuck, Deaddogs, and more open the show. A bizarre offering of tattoo flash, (one) free beer, and an eclectic curation of music, this 18+ event promises to be a memorable experience.

Father plays the Drunken Unicorn with Bali Baby, Upchuck, and Deaddogs. Tonight (Fri., April 5). $20. 8 p.m. 736 Ponce De Leon Ave. www.thedrunkenunicorn.net.
