The Southern Surf StompFest! returns to Little Tree Art Studios in Avondale Estates on Saturday, September 21, with a day filled with pure kerrang and sci-fi-fueled rock ‘n’ roll.

The festivities begin the night before, (Sept. 20) with a Friday night pre-party at Trader Vic’s in the Hilton Hotel Downtown. The Disasternauts, the Manakooras (feat. Jeremy DeHart formerly of the Aqualads), and DJ Big Tiki Dude set the weekend in motion.

Saturday’s lineup features performances by The Madeira from Indianapolis, Insect Surfers from Los Angeles (celebrating the group's 40th anniversary), Surfer Joe from Livorno, Italy), the Flamethrowers from Athens, the Intoxicators from Tallahassee, alongside hometown heroes Fiend Without A Face (feat. Brent Hinds of Mastodon), the Mystery Men?, the Surge, and El Capitan & the Reluctant Sadists.

Southern Surf StompFest! founder Chad Shivers stopped by CL’s Short Notice Studio to talk about the festival’s history and its place in Atlanta. Press play!

Music: “Stylized” by the Mystery Men?

Both events are free and all ages are welcomed to attend. Friday night’s pre-party at Trader Vic’s starts at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Southern Surf StompFest! kicks off at noon at Little Tree Arts Studio, 2834 Franklin St. in Avondale Estates.
