A jail diversion program for Fulton County to assist people with issues such as poverty, homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health was approved Monday by the Atlanta City Council. The Center for Diversion and Services is an intergovernmental agreement in partnership with Grady Hospital and the Policing Alternatives & Diversion Initiative that aims to reduce the inmate population at Fulton County and city jails. The Georgia Power Foundation is contributing a grant of $100,000 to the venture.
