Creative ideas for bicycle parking are being sought from the public by the Atlanta Department of City Planning. Amenities can include bike racks and repair stations as well as interpretative art. Applicants can choose to submit from three types of awards and will be judged competitively. The Bike Parking Structure contest is part of an initiative to re-imagine Atlanta’s public spaces via small, inexpensive projects with a high impact, its website explains. Commissioner of City Planning Tim Keane said in a statement, “Creative bike parking will increase Atlantans’ options for transportation, support sustainable lifestyles, and reflect community identity through interpretive art.” Submissions are due by Dec. 31. atlcitydesign.com
