Delta Air Lines is adopting a tough approach to unruly passengers. In a letter last week to the U.S. Department of Justice, Delta CEO Ed Bastain said there will be “zero tolerance” for any behavior that interferes with flight safety, and that anyone convicted of disruption should be added to the national “no fly” list. “This action will help prevent future incidents and serve as a strong symbol of the consequences of not complying with crew member instructions on commercial aircraft,” Bastian wrote. The Atlanta-based carrier’s rate of incidents has increased nearly 100 percent since 2019, with almost 1,900 people being banned from flying on Delta, and more than 900 of its customers facing civil penalties. www.wifr.com
