NEWS BRIEF: Fundraiser set up for Buford Highway families displaced by fire

At least 14 minority families are needing housing and financial assistance after flames tore through the Park Towne North apartment complex on Saturday night. No injuries or fatalities were reported and some of those impacted got help from Red Cross staff. Others did not fare as well, according to Stephanie Correas of the grassroots group Los Vecinos de Buford Highway. One family with a special needs child ended up in a nearby parking lot. "They weren't able to find somewhere to sleep because they needed ID to be able to get a hotel room, so they spent the night at the QuikTrip across the street," said Correas.
