NEWS BRIEF: Chastain Horse Park gets $8.9 million renovation, expansion
No horsing around in North Fulton
One of the last urban horse parks left in the United States is to undergo an $8.9 million expansion and renovation as part of a capital campaign called Healing through Horses. In operation since the 1930s, Chastain Horse Park in Atlanta is a nonprofit “serving people from all socioeconomic backgrounds with a broad range of physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities, including victims of physical abuse and children with autism,” an announcement states.
The project includes a new Therapeutic Horsemanship Center with educational and clinical spaces, a new stable for 40 horses, a practice arena, staff offices, a kitchenette, outdoor paddocks, and a lounge for volunteers and visitors. Macallan Construction officials say all regularly scheduled programming is to continue during completion and the impact on horses will be kept to a minimum. urbanize.city
