One of the oldest houses in Fulton County has been put on the market for $125,000 by the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation. The Hembree Farmhouse dates back to 1835 and originally included 600 acres of Cherokee land. Located on Hembree Road in Roswell, the main house comprises 1,400 square feet and still features its original mantles, floors, doors, hardware and construction framing.

Elihu Hembree and his descendants lived on the land for eight generations and grew cotton, corn, and sorghum while raising livestock, according to the Roswell Historical Society. In addition, the Lebanon Baptist Church was formed on the site in 1836. “The house requires extensive rehabilitation to allow for modern living, including all modern systems,” said Trust coordinator Dennis Lovello in an announcement. “Historic features, including exterior siding and windows will need repair, while other features such as the front porch and chimneys will need to be reconstructed.” Details: georgiatrust.org
