NEWS BRIEF: Georgia Mayor Perry Bell dies while competing in a motocross event
Bell struck by another rider during the competition
Perry Bell (54), mayor of White, GA, died from injuries sustained in a motocross accident Saturday morning. Bell, who was competing in the event at Lazy River Motocross near Dalton, was struck by another rider during the competition. He was evacuated to a hospital in Chatsworth, where he died.
White is a small town in Bartow County with a population of 923. Bell had only served as mayor for around two months before his death.
Murray County Deputy Coroner Jonathan Sosebee said, “From what I understand, he was on a jump and then he crashed on top of a jump. There was another rider right behind him and he was unable to do anything … he wasn’t able to see him to avoid it.” wsbtv.com
