NEWS BRIEF: Georgia congressional delegation lobbies for Dobbins to host C-130J aircraft
‘No place else’
Both sides of Georgia’s congressional delegation are pushing for a new mission at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Cobb County. Eight Republicans and six Democrats signed a letter released Friday promoting Dobbins as the future locale of the C-130J aircraft. Older units of the plane are to be replaced with new models in order to continue flying global logistical support missions, GPB reports.
“There is no place else in America with closer ties, both operational and industrial, to the historic and indispensable C-130 and all its variants than the Marietta and North Atlanta community,” the lawmakers wrote. The C-130H models have been operating for the past 30 years. Details: gpb.org
