The Castleberry Hill bar was sold for $1.9 million

Yet another Atlanta dive bar is about to bite the dust. Elliott Street Pub, a Castleberry Hill fixture for years, has been sold for $1.9 million and its closure is imminent, Urbanize reports. The circa-1870 structure was bought by brothers Mike and Pete Jakob and turned into a small pub in 2006.

The building at 51 Elliott Street originally was a carriage house for the railroad industry. It also hosted a cellar club called Dee’s Birdcage in which Isaac Hayes, Gladys Knight and Curtis Mayfield performed, and at one time served as the offices of one of the first Black-owned real estate, loan, and insurance companies in Atlanta.
