2026 Update

The Atlanta Dogwood Festival is scheduled for April 10-12, 2026 in Piedmont Park. The festival includes three full days of programming, along with special events such as the Mimosa 5K and VIP experiences.

What to Expect

About the Dogwood Festival

The first Dogwood Festival took place on April 19, 1936. Walter Rich of Rich’s department store helped establish the event, which has grown into one of Atlanta’s most recognizable annual festivals.

Over time, the festival helped cement the dogwood tree as a symbol of the city, much like the cherry blossom is associated with Washington, D.C. The tree grows primarily in the Southeast and remains closely tied to Atlanta’s seasonal identity.

The Atlanta Dogwood Festival remains one of the city’s best-known spring traditions, combining visual art, performances, food, and park-centered community programming in one of Atlanta’s landmark public spaces.
