CRITIC'S PICK:

Dec. 12 – Sun., May 10

The Family Album of Ralph Eugene Meatyard, High Museum — Ralph Eugene Meatyard created some of the most original photographs of the mid-20th century, and the prints in this exhibition are exemplary of his innovation and creativity. Meatyard considered the 36 photographs shown here among his best work, all of which appeared in his 1970 book published shortly before his death. Moving between portraiture, abstraction, landscape, surrealism, and gothic narrative, the images reflect a deeply experimental approach. — Kevin C. Madigan
