Repossessions at Spelman College Museum of Fine Art examines how artists engage with histories of ownership, displacement, and cultural memory. The exhibition reflects on acts of reclaiming, whether of narrative, identity, land, or material culture.

Across the work on view, histories are preserved, challenged, and reinterpreted. The exhibition explores the tension between loss and recovery, showing how visual language can operate as both critique and restoration.

By focusing on repossession as both concept and action, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on who holds agency over memory and how artists participate in redefining what is remembered.
