Los Porfiados, High Museum — The High’s Carroll Slater Sifly Piazza is now the site of an unusual interactive installation from Chile known as Los Porfiados (The Stubborns). The setup consists of fourteen tall, inflatable sculptures that encourage visitors to connect with their malleable structures in order to “activate” them. The venture comes from the Chilean studio collective GT2P (Great Things to People) that generates projects integrating art, architecture and science within a cultural framework. — Kevin C. Madigan
 

Los Porfiados: The Stubborn Ones at the High Museum of Art explores themes of resistance, persistence, and cultural identity through a selection of contemporary works that reflect on endurance in the face of social and historical pressure. The exhibition brings together artists whose practices engage with ideas of resilience, self-determination, and collective memory.

Across a range of media, the works consider how individuals and communities assert themselves against systems of constraint, using visual language to express both defiance and continuity. The exhibition highlights how artistic practice can function as a form of resistance while also preserving cultural narratives.

By centering on the idea of “the stubborn,” the exhibition frames persistence as both a personal and political act, emphasizing the role of art in sustaining identity and voice across generations.
