Public Notice: 2025 U.S. International Poster Biennial, Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) — An international jury that included poster artist Luba Lukova and graphic designer David Carson was tasked with sifting through 11,845 submissions from 93 countries, and ‘Public Notice’ is the fruit of their labors, showcasing the winners of the contest. The exhibition focuses on the role of posters in four categories: social, cultural, animated, and national parks, demonstrating how image, typography and symbolism “shape public dialogue and make values visible.”
On a similar theme, ‘Granny Graffiti’ is running simultaneously at MODA, in the museum’s lobby. It’s a project of Philadelphia-based artist Carole Loeffler that began in 2018 when she was inspired by the phrase “stay strong” at a local gathering. Loeffler went on to create affirmations stitched in felt such as “It’s OK” and “We can fix this,” placing them on telephone poles throughout the city as public offerings of reassurance. — Kevin C.
