CRITIC’S PICK:
Neon Poetry Project, Dash Studio, Downtown Atlanta — A 50-foot high light sculpture featuring a line of philosophical poetry has been unveiled in Atlanta at 186 Mitchell Street. The sentence, in glowing blue neon, reads, “We begin with the end but do not end there” and is taken from the poem Endeavour by local writer Stephanie Niu.
A permanent addition to the neighborhood, the piece was curated by four artistic entities: Lostintheletters, Dashboard, Downtown Atlanta, Inc. and Dash Studio. Project executive Nina Dolgin says the intention of the group in commissioning the work was to “create a glowing beacon that represents our belief in the future of South Downtown.” This is Neon Poetry’s third large-scale artwork in the country dedicated to contemporary literature. — Kevin C.
