A juried exhibition featuring dozens of artists is running at the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art until mid-September. Chosen from more than 800 entries nationwide, the show displays “exceptional artistic skill” in a range of genres, media, styles, subjects, concepts and techniques. Since launching 26 years ago, Metro Montage has become one of the museum’s signature exhibitions, according to marketing executive Michele Baker.

Built in 1903, the MCMA’s Greek revival building at 30 Atlanta Street is itself a work of art. The ornate structure was formerly a post office as well as Cobb County’s main library. (The courthouse scenes in the 2014 movie ‘Selma’ were filmed there). The museum opened in 1990 and specializes in nineteenth- and twentieth-century American art; it offers tours, lectures, workshops, art camp and other educational, social, and cultural programs. The first Sunday of every month allows free entry for non-members; regular admission is $10 for adults and $8 for students, military, and seniors.
