Georgia State University presents Turkish political commentator and author Mustafa Akyol as the final installment of CENCIA’s Five from Five Literary Series. Akyol is a regular columnist for two Turkish newspapers as well as the International New York Times. His 2011 TED talk was titled “Faith Versus Tradition in Islam” and has nearly 800,000 views to date.Akyol will read from his book, Islam Without Extremes: A Muslim Case for Liberty, which has been described as “a delightfully original take on Turkey and on the prospects for liberal democracy in the broader Islamic Middle East” by The Wall Street Journal.
