Louisville, Ky.’s Young Widows has long been one of the most adventurous heavy bands around, fearlessly exploring the shadowy fringes of noise-rock, hardcore, and art-metal on its first three albums. With its fourth release, the excellent Easy Pain, the group adds a dark and suffocating take on post-punk to its growing empire, tossing Evan Patterson’s swaggering, bluesy snarl down a silo full of sludge and scuzzy grooves.
