Love ’em or hate ’em for their brassy, strutting cock-rock and sappy sweeping ballads, give Aerosmith credit for being survivors. As one of the few bands of their generation touring with all original members, the quintet — most in their mid-60s — has weathered breakups, substance addiction, an aging fan base, and, perhaps toughest of all, their lead singer’s “American Idol” judging shenanigans to consistently deliver tough workingman’s hard rock. The group’s surprisingly impressive 2012 comeback, Music from Another Dimension, didn’t ignite the charts, but showed the band capable of re-creating past glories without diluting them.
