Idyll Game, the theme of this new series of paintings by Stanford Ashcraft, is a playful satire of romance and luxury. Chess pieces, model ships, and elegant costumes appear in these new works that blend magic and reality with playful charm. Influenced by 19th century masters, the surrealists, and classic storybooks, Ashcraft adds his unique touches. His images are painted exclusively with razor blades. An opening reception will take place Friday, July 5, from 5-9 p.m. during the Marietta Art Walk. An additional reception will be held Friday, August 2, from 5-9 p.m.
