Produced by Steven Spielberg, the Academy Award-winning documentary examines the final months of World War II when the Nazi regime devoted its dwindling manpower to the extermination of Hungarian Jews. Five Holocaust survivors recount their experiences hiding in Budapest, surviving Auschwitz, and returning to life after the war. Other contributors to the film include a Jewish historian, a Nazi doctor, and American servicemen who liberated concentration camps. The film balances the horror of the Final Solution with the will to live through faith, kinship, and sheer determination. Because of some graphic imagery, the film is unsuitable for children under 13.
