Join the United Nations Association Atlanta chapter as we celebrate The International Day For the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition. Thursday, August 23rd from 5:30-8:00 pm Hosted by the Auburn Avenue Research Library for African American Culture and History located at 101 Auburn Ave., in Atlanta. This event is free and pays homage to the lives lost and affected during the 200+ years of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. We will also have a one on one conversation with Atlanta’s own historian in heels, Dr. Karcheik Sims-Alvarado, author of Atlanta and the Atlanta Civil Rights Movement 1944-1968 and Miguel Lloyd, Atlanta Black Chamber. Dr. Sims-Alvarado current visual Civil Rights exhibit can be seen on the Atlanta BeltLines. There will be an opening reception and a meet greet/book signing to follow the event.
