Join us for this special presentation of The Loving Story. A racially-charged criminal trial and a heart-rending love story converge in this documentary about Richard and Mildred Loving, set during the turbulent Civil Rights era.
The film screening will be followed by a discussion led by “Historian in Heels,” Dr. Karcheik Sims-Alvarado. Dr. Sims-Alvarado is the founder and CEO of Preserve Black Atlanta, Inc. She has served as a historian and consultant with the Herndon Home Museum, Georgia State University Honors College, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Humanity in Action, and Central Atlanta Progress. Her recent book, Atlanta and the Civil Rights Movement: 1944-1968, has been adapted as an Art on the Beltline exhibit.
