In conjunction with Atlanta Celebrates Photography, DIFFERENT TRAINS GALLERY, 432 East Howard Avenue no. 24, presents “Remembering Marvin Rhodes”, a retrospective exhibition of photographs by the late Atlanta photographer and Vietnam veteran who passed away in 2017. Rhodes earned a Master’s Degree in Photography from Georgia State University and taught at the Atlanta College of Art, the Southeastern Center for the Arts and Kennesaw State University. His work is in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum, the High Museum of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art. Gallery Director Shawn Vinson first exhibited Rhodes’ photographs at his eponymous Decatur Square gallery nearly twenty years ago, and Rhodes asked Vinson to manage his archive after his passing. This exhibition is sponsored by the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives and Rare Book Library at Emory University. Gallery hours are Thursday - Saturday: 11-5 + by appointment anytime.
