Gainesville Theatre Alliance presents The Wilson Project, Nov 8-11 at 7:30 pm in UNG-Gainesville’s Ed Cabell Theatre, as part of their Discovery Series. The Wilson Project is an anthology play of monologues and scenes from the work of legendary African-American playwright, August Wilson. Individually heart-rending, impassioned, and sometimes hilarious, each piece is selected from Wilson’s ground-breaking American Century Cycle of plays about the African-American experience in every decade from 1900-2000. Notably featured are scenes from the Pulitzer Prize-winning dramas Fences and The Piano Lesson. Join GTA as we honor the life and work of one of the greatest playwrights of all time. The show is free and open to the public. Rated PG-15 for some adult language and content.
The GTA Discovery Series showcases our students in ways that mainstage shows cannot, through experimental, smaller-scale productions that allow for student growth and opportunity. Featuring students in professional roles both on and off the stage, the Discovery Series creates a space for students to turn classroom knowledge into real-world experience.
