Georgia: a state rich in Civil War history, from the struggles for her coastal fortifications to an attempt to steal a steam locomotive, and the many battles fought on her soil. This course, with instructor Michael K. Shaffer, will explore the various wartime actions and key participants, beginning with the January 1861 secession vote and culminating with the May 1865 capture of Confederate President Jefferson Davis near Irwinville.
The Civil War in Georgia evening class is part of Barrington Hall’s popular evening class series. The class is from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on four consecutive Tuesday evenings, February 4 through February 25, 2020 in the barn activity room of Barrington Hall. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. The class fee is $69.00 per person. Advance registration is required. Call 770-640-3855 to make your reservations.
