Winnowing’s Daughter

Jim Cherry Learning Resource Center at Perimeter College - Georgia State University
will present the handwork of Martha Whittington’s “Winnowing’s Daughter.”

April 4 - May 22, 2020
Opening Reception April 4th, 2 – 5 PM

This April Jim Cherry Learning Resource Center at Perimeter College - Georgia State University will host Martha Whittington’s “Winnowing’s Daughter” sculptural landscape. The outlines of Whittington’s simple forms move through the gallery environment containing nothing that is meant to evoke a kind of emptiness and the urge to fill the forms. The made objects themselves invoke a primitive mental image of useful agrarian and maritime tools, inlets and outlets, pipes, and sieves.

“Winnowing’s Daughter” will include a showing of cast and sewn sculptures by Selena Lillo, the main stitcher for Whittington’s installation.
