Celebrate two holidays over the weekend at Firepit Pizza Tavern. Not only will there be Labor Day festivities and specials, but the local haunt is celebrating National Cheese Pizza Day on Sunday, September 5th. Guests can indulge in the best pizza Grant Park has to offer with $5 cheese pizzas served all day. Their hand-tossed, brick fired pizza is inspired by Leslie Cohen, owner and winner of Food Network’s “Cutthroat Kitchen”, and Executive Chef Shaun Whitmer’s favorite elements from different styles of pizza. Dubbing Firepit’s pizza “Atlanta-style”, their signature dough is aged to perfection in honor of a Neapolitan crust, crushed Italian plum tomatoes are included in the sauce, toppings are reminiscent of the best of New York, and their grated blend of mozzarella, cheddar, and fontina cheeses make for a mouthwatering combination that is uniquely their own.
