This month: Mockingbird's Wing and CJ Jones and the Spirit Bones. Mockingbird's Wing is an organically grown acoustic band made up of four diverse musicians: Barbara Hotz, Jonathan McBee, Paul Pendery and Suzy Schultz. Like the mockingbird herself, all the different voices and styles come together for a unique, inimitable sound that has gained Mockingbird's Wing a strong following at local coffeehouses and festivals. CJ Jones & The Spirit Bones play original songs that sound like Commander Cody, Mojo Nixon and Hunter S Thompson had a three-way mutant love child. Band Leader and songwriter Ted Pettus plays with some of Atlanta's finest musicians who bring these songs to a new level of funkabilly at notable venues such as Clermont Lounge, Red Light Café, The Earl, Inman Park Festival and Lake Claire Land Trust.
