This month: Deidre McCalla and Nicholas Edward Williams. Deidre McCalla has long been in the forefront of Black artists reconfiguring perceptions of how Black folk do folk. Sing Out! Magazine names Deidre one of our generation’s most important singer-songwriters. Deidre McCalla has touched audiences from Maui to Maine, church basements and college coffeehouses to Carnegie Hall. Nicholas Edward Williams is a multi-instrumentalist and storyteller who is dedicated to “playing it forward” by preserving the songs and styles that have shaped our country: ragtime, Piedmont blues, traditional folk, old time and early country. Williams has spent the last 15 years touring around the US, the UK, Western Europe and Australia. Minimum $10 gen. adm., $8 AAFFM and First E. Cong. members; additional contributions appreciated.
