CRITIC’S PICK: If you’ve been in the local hardcore scene at all recently you’ve probably seen Atlanta’s newest grindcore band, Clot. Clot consists of lyricist and vocalist Christian Perez, guitarist and synthesizer Yasin Knapp, drummer Cameron Austin and guitarist/vocalist Daniel Weed. The foursome’s highly anticipated debut LP Grief Tethers releases July 21 via Terminus Hate City. This upcoming full-length comes after their debut 2022 singles “Cerebral Calamity” and “Casual Masochist.” Don’t miss them at The Earl with Big Brave and Liturgy on July 7.— Jessica Goodson

From the venue:

“Grief tethers itself to those it visits like a ghostly anchor, choosing when to materialize on a whim, silently informing our days.”

Clot’s debut LP, “Grief Tethers” will be out on July 21st via Terminus Hate City

For one of Atlanta’s greener underground metal bands, CLOT has a remarkably powerful sense of self. Their debut full length, “Grief Tethers” fully embraces their own unique style of blackened grind core mixed with groovier bits of death metal, and stop-start mathy hardcore. Above all, though, CLOT seems to transcend genres with grace, entering into their own brand of “grindcore that isn’t really grindcore”, which is, in another word, called “original, fucking bad ass music”.
