CRITIC’S PICK: For a while, it seemed that Mayfield was going to be the new Americana “it” girl, thanks to an endorsement from The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach and a well-received album of Elliott Smith covers. But her last full release was back in 2017 where she moved to a tougher indie rock approach balanced with the hushed vocals and spare songs that put her on the map.
