CRITIC’S PICK: You never know what happens when a major label gets hold of an indie folk/country rocker, but it doesn’t usually work out well when bean counters get involved. Thankfully Albino has kept his organic, unaffected sound intact as he releases his first album, Tears You Hide for the mammoth Republic label. His plaintive, sweeping voice and engaging, introspective tunes feel lived-in and authentic. Let’s hope he keeps it that way. — Hal Horowitz
