CRITIC’S PICK: Those who only remember Vega from her “Luka” or “Tom’s Diner” hits have a lot of other great folk/pop to discover in her catalog, including 2014’s terrific, if obliquely titled, Tales From the Realm of the Queen of Pentacles. Vega’s breathy, cool, natural, vocals remain as distinctive as in the 70s and the songs you don’t know are as impressive as the ones you do. When she rocks out on “I Never Wear White,” she displays a seldom heard, somewhat darker side of her talents. - Hal Horowitz

From the venue:

Suzanne will be joined on stage by her longtime guitarist, Gerry Leonard, performing a career-spanning show including favorites like “Tom’s Diner,” “Luka,” and more!

Widely regarded as one of the foremost songwriters of her generation, Suzanne Vega’s latest album, An Evening of New York Songs and Stories, is out now via Amanuensis/Cooking Vinyl. “I recorded these songs at the  Café Carlyle in New York City,” Vega says of the album. ”It’s a small, exclusive club that has hosted legends from  Eartha Kitt to Judy Collins, and is also known to be the place  where Jackie Kennedy met Audrey Hepburn. I love it for its bohemian old-world glamour! I included songs that were  inspired by New York City or for which New York provided  the backdrop, including “Walk on the Wild Side” by my late, great friend, Lou Reed - a song I rarely heard him sing  himself.”
