CRITIC’S PICK: Imagine Dex Romweber without the baritone voice and you’re close to the indescribable sound of Tav Falco. The irrepressible frontman has been slinging out his raw, rockabilly, circus-like garage rocking, cracked country and twisted tango since the early 80s without a lot of acclaim for carrying that particular musical torch. It’s all cool and you have to hand it to the guy for keeping this clearly non-commercial flame alive. Albums don’t capture his full weirdness so take this rare opportunity to get a dose of it live. — Hal Horowitz

Tav Falco’s Panther Burns are touring in support of their new album Nashville Sessions: Live at Bridgestone Arena Studios on ORG Music. The shows will include favorites from throughout Falco’s four decades of recordings. Equal parts primal rock ’n’ roll, country blues, and avant-garde cabaret, Panther Burns are not just music, they are a way of life.
Also appearing will be local rockers Twisty Cats and Italian guitarist Mario Monterosso leading his instrumental trio.
