Event Description

Jordan Foley & The Wheelhouse
After the release of his debut solo album Give to Get a Day in 2018, Jordan Foley soon realized his songs needed a boost. He could hear a full band while performing his songs. So, he set out to put a band together.

Founded in 2019, Jordan Foley & The Wheelhouse consists of Jordan Foley (vocals, guitar), Tyler Hood (lead guitar), Cristian Faustmann (bass), Mikey Guzman (keys), and Matt Wassum (drums). The name “The Wheelhouse” came about from his friends who saw Jordan play live and tell him, “You should sing this song because it’s totally in your wheelhouse.” Over time, what Jordan initially thought would be an acoustic folk outfit turned into an all-out Americana/southern rock band.

On the band’s sound and live performance, Orlando Weekly’s Bao Le-Huu writes they “are on a whole other plane. Hearing his vigorous, stirring voice on its own is a moving thing, but seeing it flanked and given full wings by a five-piece ensemble is a splendor. His supporting cast is stocked with quality players and singers. Together, they make for a country-rock outfit that’s lush, articulated and muscular.”

Joelton Mayfield
Raised in small town central Texas and based in Nashville, Tennessee, Joelton Mayfield crafts hard-hitting alt-country that’s at home in dive bars and DIY venues alike. Mayfield’s distinct take on the genre blends Wilco-esque musicality with the dynamics and melodic edge of fourth-wave emo to create a sound all his own. This musical innovation underscores Mayfield’s deft lyricism, which draws a Southern Gothic literary sensibility and deals intimately with the tensions embedded in family, religion, masculinity, and love in the American South.

J.R. Rund
The Georgia-bred songwriter brings a unique perspective to a genre that has often been reduced to the mention of whiskey and the spiral of unrequited love. J.R. is decidedly more poet and Prine than crooner and Cash. His humble songs are chocked full of conversational lyrics-often humorous, other times gut-wrenching but always delivered honestly. Loaded for bear with his band and new LP, J.R.’s knocking on Americana’s Palace door. But he doesn’t need to be the new King in the castle, he’s happy to be the Jester with a heart of gold.
