THE ATL URBAN COMEDY AND MUSIC FEST EMERGING ARTISTS
The ATL Fest will feature unsigned comedians and artists from various music genres showcasing their work to the industry and the public. The Fest is a 4-day event with showcases at multiple stages throughout Historic Underground Atlanta and the Atlanta Comedy Theater culminating with the grand finale MainStage “Best of the Fest” with hand picked “Best of” artists in each category. Saturday and Sunday daytime will be free symposiums with top industry personal panels offering guidance to the up-and-coming artists.
The programing board consists of some of the top talent coordinators in their field who have been spotting and developing new talent for decades. We are curating a festival of artists on the brink of breaking into the public consciousness, offering them an opportunity to network with talent and industry professionals and appear on great stages to showcase their talent and create social media content.
The Festival is partnering with Underground Atlanta, promoter DDM York and various media outlets to create an unforgettable event not only for the artists but for the audience as well. All artists will be given “tag lists” so that all artists and industry involved benefit from the social media presence.
The owner and founder of the Festival, Garrett Abdo, has been a champion of emerging artists for over three decades having launched some of the biggest names in Comedy including Rickey Smiley, Earthquake, Kountry Wayne, Jess Hilarious, and the world wide phenomenon of Matt Rife who Abdo discovered when he was 16 years old. Matt’s world-wide tour “Problematic” sold out 600,000 tickets in 48 hours. Abdo, over his decades of comedy club ownership, additionally has provided many music showcases in his venues.
In the years to come there will be many artists who credit The ATL Urban Comedy and Music Fest as a turning point in their careers.
