CRITIC’S PICK: Jim Croce’s career was short. He only released three albums, one of which appeared after his Sept., 1973, death in a plane crash. Son AJ, not quite two when his dad died, has crafted an eclectic career with his own jazz, soul, and pop originals. But it’s natural he’d want to pay tribute to his famous father. That’s what happens on this tour as the younger Croce plays a full set of Jim’s hits along with a multi-media presentation of slides and memorabilia. — Hal Horowitz

From the venue:

The Croce Plays Croce 50th Anniversary show features a legendary band (including drummer Gary Mallaber, bassist David Barard, guitar/violin James Pennebaker) and a moving multi-media presentation accompanying Jim’s songs (which on the previous tour included memorable hits, “Operator (That’s Not the Way It Feels),” “Time in a Bottle,” and others). It was fan-demand for more, and the camaraderie that A.J. felt with the audience, the players, and the connection to his father’s timeless music that inspired A.J. to embark on the 50th Anniversary tour for 2023.
