From the venue:
Continuing their 12th season, the Peachtree String Quartet will play its winter concert at the Garden Recreation Center on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 3 p.m. The program will feature works by Beethoven, Webern and Brahms, all of whom were living in Vienna when composing these pieces. The delightful Beethoven Op. 18 is one of his early quartets and the influences of Haydn are easily recognizable. The slow and expressive Webern Langsamer Satz was composed in 1905 but first premiered in 1962 after being rediscovered. They are especially excited to be concluding the program with the beautiful Brahms Clarinet Quintet Op.115 featuring PSQ guest clarinetist Jesse McCandless. Jesse joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as Principal Clarinet just a few months ago. This will be a great opportunity to experience his beautiful playing.
